About

The idea for indivi was created in 2014 when our founder Scott Davis was at his wit's end about his staff discarding their water bottles that weren't even close to empty.

Scott had put together a full case of water bottles that were all opened, and mostly still full, from around the jobsite.

When he walked over to the recycling bin seeing red with frustration and threw the case into the bin it hit him..."why do all of these bottles look the same?"

"If these bottles had different colors we would be more likely to know whose was whose, and actually finish the bottle we started drinking."

The concept for indivi emerged.

The fun part started! What would we call it? How would we make the bottles look different from each other? Could we make a bottle that functioned better than what's in the market now? Is it possible to get our water to taste smooth without additives?

First was the brand's name. How do we say in a single word that our product is all the same clean tasting purified water, just labeled in contrasting colors to give us an easy way to know who each bottle belongs to.

Scott wrote down a bunch of words that came to mind, different, individual, contrast, varient and so on... He kept coming back to the word individual, eventually the three i's started to look like water bottles! Individual was close but it just sounded too generic. After a few minutes of thinking that over, indivi was going to be the brand's name.

In the beginning stages, Scott thought that he would want his product to come in different colored bottles. After months of mocking up actual bottles in different colors with a clear base label, he decided he preferred clear bottles with with a colored base label. The clear screamed water, the colored labels were unmistakable.

Now, the bottle itself was the challenge. Scott knew he wanted a smooth bottle like others on the market, but he didn't like how easy it was to spill a little water when opening his favorite brands. Learning about bottle structure and how it affects rigidity he ended up with a standard "bullet" bottle with a single ring indention that not only made the bottle easier to hold, it gave the bottle more strength without using more material.

There was just one more very important detail to figure out, the water!

Scott decided that he would not introduce his new product to the market until after he could honestly say that he preferred indivi to any other waters already on the shelves. Would everyone feel the same? Of course not! The taste of different waters ultimately comes down to personal preference. Scott prefers indivi.

When the lab coats came off, the finished product was a smooth tasting, ultra purified drinking water with absolutely no additives whatsoever.
